About

The Alexei Mateevici Memorial House is located in the village of Zaim, Căușeni District, the birthplace of the poet and priest Alexei Mateevici (1888–1917), author of the poem “Limba noastră”, which later became the national anthem of the Republic of Moldova. The museum is arranged in the poet’s family home and preserves period furniture, personal belongings, documents, photographs, manuscripts, and early editions illustrating his life and literary activity. The visit offers an authentic glimpse into rural life at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries and highlights Mateevici’s contribution to Moldova’s cultural and spiritual heritage.
