About

The Codrii Natural Reserve is the oldest and one of the most important protected areas in the Republic of Moldova. Established in 1971, the reserve covers about 5,100 hectares of dense forests and rolling hills in the central part of the country, roughly 50 km from Chișinău. It preserves typical Central European forests dominated by oak, hornbeam, and beech. The area is rich in biodiversity, hosting numerous species of mammals, birds, and plants. Codrii is an excellent destination for hiking, nature observation, and photography. A small Nature Museum within the reserve offers insights into the local ecosystem.

Good to know

The reserve has marked trails suitable for walking and educational visits. Comfortable footwear and water are recommended. As a protected area, visitors are asked to respect conservation rules and wildlife.
