Istanbul is one of the most fascinating cities in the world, stretching across two continents. But why is Istanbul so popular among tourists? The secret of this amazing city is its rich history, cultural heritage, and incredible stories. Honestly, once you visit Istanbul, you’ll want to return again and again!

What’s worth seeing in Istanbul:

Galata Tower → One of Istanbul’s magnificent attractions, built in the 14th century. Initially, the tower was constructed as a lighthouse, later used as an observatory, watchtower, and even a prison. Today, it serves as an observation deck and museum. The building has 8 floors, each with a different feature. For example, on one floor, you can watch a short film about the world’s first crewed flight, which took place from this tower. On the penultimate floor, there is an exact model of Constantinople.

Topkapi Palace → A luxurious, monumental, and majestic palace in Istanbul, covering approximately 700,000 square meters, making it one of the largest museums in the world. You can spend an entire day exploring everything slowly. The palace architecture is diverse, with various styles harmoniously blended. In the courtyards, flowers bloom everywhere, and shrubs line the pathways. The TV series Magnificent Century tells the story of Sultan Suleiman, who lived here with his concubines and Roxelana.

Grand Bazaar → One of the oldest covered markets in the world, operating since 1460. Today, the Grand Bazaar houses over 4,400 shops on 66 streets. It is a unique place with vaulted ceilings and a vibrant atmosphere, full of the spirit of antiquity. Here you’ll experience a shopping adventure unlike any mall in Istanbul. Vendors, accustomed to a large number of buyers, sometimes overprice goods—but if you venture deeper into the bazaar, prices drop. Don’t hesitate to bargain, as the initial price can often be reduced several times.

Hagia Sophia Mosque → Often called the “Eighth Wonder of the World,” and for good reason. It is one of the few monumental buildings preserved almost in its entirety. Historical records show that about 10,000 people participated in its construction, using 130 tons of gold, silver, and various precious stones.

Blue Mosque → A majestic monument of world architecture, rightly considered the jewel of the Ottoman Empire, as nowhere else can you find such a grand and elegant place of worship. Officially named Sultanahmet Mosque, it is Istanbul’s main Islamic temple. The exterior is gray, and tourists call it the “Blue Mosque” because of the interior decorations with blue-patterned tiles.

Istanbul Aquarium → One of the best aquariums in the world, with a variety of themed zones. Its spaces amaze with unique design, visual displays, and geographical and cultural elements. Interactive film demonstrations, sound, and light effects captivate visitors at first sight. The water tanks have different shapes, and each exhibit features an electronic panel displaying all the information about marine life.
